For an Odoo business in Belgium or France, a beautiful email that never reaches the inbox generates neither meetings nor sales. In Odoo 19 Enterprise, deliverability connects the sending domain, DNS authentication, list quality and a disciplined testing process.
Start with a domain you control
Choose which domain carries your campaigns and who owns it across marketing, IT and legal. The Send From address should be consistent with that domain. An address from another domain can lead to bounces, particularly where the mailbox provider enforces DMARC. Do not change sender on every campaign: recipient recognition and sending reputation take time to build.
Authenticate before increasing volume
SPF and DKIM records authorize sending; DMARC expresses the handling policy for messages that fail alignment. Have the DNS configuration validated by the team responsible for the domain, then send genuine tests to several internal and external inboxes. A successful SMTP connection test alone does not prove delivery: check receipt and any bounces.
Treat the list as business data
An outdated or malformed address increases bounces and damages sender reputation. In Odoo, build lists and segments with a known source, consent, language and owner. Keep unsubscribe simple and honour it; do not import a historical list without review. For Odoo Belgium, Odoo France and Odoo Enterprise, have the journey reviewed by the person responsible for compliance as well.
Measure in order to decide, not merely to open
The Email Marketing dashboard includes sent, delivered, opened, clicked and replied rates. Start with bounces and delivery rate before assuming a subject line is the problem. Opens can help compare versions, but they do not replace metrics connected to the actual objective: qualified click, quote request, registration or revenue.
Acceptance-test a campaign before scheduling it
Underside’s fictional scenario: an industrial company in Liège prepares French and English campaigns for Belgian and French customers. Its team first checks the domain, links, landing page and unsubscribe path, then sends to a small engaged segment before widening the audience.
- Check alignment between the domain, sender and applicable DNS records.
- Send a test to several mailbox providers and check delivery, rendering and replies.
- Test links, preview text, language, landing page and unsubscribe journey.
- Exclude failing addresses and document the source and consent of each list.
- Compare delivery, bounces, clicks and business outcome after 24 hours, then decide what follows.
